What Have All These Networks Done For Me?

April 4th, 2008  |  Published in Networking

So, we have all these online networks. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and the many Blogs that everyone has. The thought occurred to me, what exactly have these many social tools done to help me out, make my connections and help me become a better connected student. A student with more ideas, more understanding of the business network that revolves around us on a daily basis.

  • Twitter – This very simple tool has helped me see the many hidden things that others have discovered that I have a hard time finding. I find new technologies, new ideas, all in all, they are basically renaissance ideas.
  • Facebook – Being the social animal that I am. It allows me to connect more with peers on a less professional level.
  • LinkedIn – The only downside, is that it’s not as large as most groups, sadly. The more professionals that you know that are connected to this network the better. But, unfortunately, the many people I have worked with do not have this professional tool. Use it! Get the recommendations, this will help a lot with your resumes and many other professional tools.
  • Blogs – I use other people’s blogs for new ideas. Basically, it’s like a more elaborated, expanded and thought out version of Twitter. So, look around there is great knowledge out there!
