Work Entertainment, Without Losing Focus

May 9th, 2008  |  Published in Uncategorized

So today at work fostered this blog post. I was going through Hilton’s Front Desk training, because I’ve only been trained for Marriott, had to learn a new system. Sitting there going through 7 hours or training manuals and exercises on the computer, made me think of things to have in the background to help you keep your fun.

  • Muxtape – Silly filter’s at work didn’t let me get this one, but if you don’t have a filter, check it out. MegFowler always has solid Muxtapes.
  • Keep Small Toys Around – Keep small trinkets, stuff to keep your self mildly amused but let’s you stay on topic. Plus, it lets your clients know that you know how to have a little fun. Check out Office Playground for some fun toys.
  • Prank the Co-Workers – Don’t make a crazy habit out of it, but remember to make it fun. If there is a birthday, make use of it. Always make sure its good clean fun, you don’t want to get in trouble for having fun.
  • Rewards – Give yourself little break rewards, task rewards, etc. Every time you get something done, make use of it, and cheers to yourself!
  • Background ‘Noise’ – If you can do it, play some music with Rhapsody , or use Hulu.com to watch movies in the background of your work. IF, if if! You can.
