Today, at 3pm I had a meeting with @BrianR to discuss Carrboro Coworking. Brian is a former IT guy with plenty of experience in networking and other IT aspects. His plans for coworking in Carrboro, NC, are on a fast track to being a success.
Background on Carrboro
Carrboro, NC is literally a ‘hippie’ save haven surrounded by Chapel Hill, NC home of UNC-CH. Carrboro is the home to many home grown coffee shops, organic fare, farmers markets, and many other green tendancies and habits. The overall Chapel Hill/Carrbor area is also filled with small businesses. These small businesses range from bars, restaurants, cafe’s, STA Travel and many many others.
Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Coworking
The reason coworking will work in this area is because there are constantly small business owners and clients looking for locations to do their work, that is not their home office, or small cramped quarters of their businesses. Also, finances, because small businesses are not willing to establish big budget for large internet connections, business telephones and other expenses, to have a place for them to work will be a relief to their wallet and locale.
Coworking going green
Brian has good plans on keeping the location green for businesses. He plans to do this by keeping most furnishings organic. Meaning, furniture will be made from wool, or linen, and reducing the use of plastics in beverage containers. Also using renewable energy sources in the building, making the best use of electricity within the building and using as much natural lighting as possible.
