SAS Student Solutions
A couple days ago SAS released from the SAS Global Forum their new Social Media Analytics (SMA). In the same day the Triangle Business Journal told that, “SAS to offer free software to all college students“. Now the best part is with these two releases at the same time, students now have access to some of the best analytic software by one of the greatest business analysis companies in the world.
Now personally I have not tried this software yet, but I can imagine that once I get my hands on it, it’s going to be one hell of an experience. As a student personal brand, there are many benefits that can be had for when you’re looking to adapt and experiment within the website. As David B. Thomas (@davidbthomas) mentions in his notes over at SAS Conversations and Connections,
Accurate sentiment over time is vital. The Media Portal allows users to understand the impact social activity has on their business. Mark used an example of a bank. The bank may have great financial products but their customer service is lacking. SMA is able to look at the different parts, be precise and accurate to deliver real business value. You can look at a point in time but also over time, and helps you understand how your activities change the results over time.
Not only for start-ups but for established brands, the ability to monitor with, “…better than 90 percent accuracy.” is something that not many analytical tools have been able to do before. The ability of SAS’ new software to be able to integrate text analysis into a quantifiable and understandable results to take your enterprise in a new direction.
Not Just Social
SAS’ Solutions OnDemand isn’t just their new release of SMA software. It’s access to tools like:
- SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide®
- SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Miner™
- SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Forecast Server (Beta stage)
So in Fall 2010, check your university, get them on this if they’re not already. Check in with SAS, what benefit can you get from this!
