BumpTop Desktop Disappointment

Now, my opinion may be taken for poorly here on my opinion of the new BumpTop Desktop. I normally use my MacBook, but I decided to install BumpTop onto my PC and give it a whirl.

After installing I kept getting a popup message saying that “TexHelper.exe” has been shut down. You know one of those standard Windows BS messages cause it can’t do a damn thing correctly. That comes up once every 5 seconds being a pain. The refresh rate, is my second big thing, everythime I try to drag anything around I see the lag in the dragging and as I have Stardock installed eveytime it refreshes I see it blink rapidly, the refresh rate. I don’t have a brand spanking new computer or anything but I think that an application like this shouldn’t be slowing my PC down to a crawling pace.

Customization is also a difficult feature to find, I’m tired of the simple blue background.

On a more personal note, this has nothing to do with the application itself, is that I keep a clear desktop. Therefore, BumpTop doesn’t really appeal to me because there is simply nothing on my desktop to pile, or put on the walls of the BumpTop, all those nice little fancy features BumpTop was made for.

I think if BumpTop had a “Lite” version it might do it good as far as running on older PC’s. Which Note: My PC does have great qualifications as far as a dektop goes, built it myself. I would just like to see it run smoother on my PC. If you have any tips for me to do that, I will be more than happy to try them!

Face It!

So the new Facebook has been out for about two weeks now. Personally, I like it, and I feel many people who are up to date in the Social Media world like it too. It is obviously a representation of the Twitter interface, and those who are used to it enjoy the new aspect of Facebook.

Here’s the fun part. I’m still a college student, so the majority of all my friends are my same age and don’t follow the social media world as closely as I do. A mild outcry, not as heated as the last one but an outcry nonetheless. I must say that there’s no reason for it. Facebook has been making an effort to increase the public in their new upgrades, and have been doing an excellent job at doing so. The people had about a 2 to 3 week window to say what they felt and to imput their own opinion into the new layout. But, they didn’t and now they’re complaining.

The Social Media world expands far quicker than many realize. I feel Facebook is leading the Social Media Curve, but at the same time, they are usually one of the latter to include themselves in newer updates and applications and figures.

So for all of you who are bitching and moaning about the new layout, your time has passed. Next time they implement a change, do something BEFORE it changes, and have it become the way you want.
